This module introduces essential supplies, pressure control, basic strokes, layering techniques, and blending fundamentals to build a strong foundation in colored pencil realism.
MODULE 2
Exploring Color Theory
This module covers the color wheel, primaries, secondaries, and tertiaries, warm and cool tones, complementary contrast, harmonies, neutral mixing, tinting and shading, cool temperature effects, and how to choose color schemes.
MODULE 3
Mastering Blending Skills
This module explores blending with layering, burnishing, markers, and white pencils, combining different methods effectively, avoiding wax bloom, layering light over dark and dark over light, creating gradients, and blending both small and large areas.
MODULE 4
Practicing Simple Objects
This module practices drawing from reference using basic shapes, creating simple fruits, cups, leaves, feathers, candies, and flowers, while focusing on proportions, refining outlines, adding textures, and applying shadows to bring objects to life.
MODULE 5
Textures and Surfaces
This module focuses on rendering smooth and rough surfaces, drawing fur with short and long textures, creating wood grain, glass transparency, metal reflections, fabric folds, and capturing stone or concrete to develop realistic textural detail.
MODULE 6
Eyes and Atmospheres
This module teaches sketching and coloring eyes with surrounding details, addressing common drawing problems, and expanding into larger scenes such as atmospheric effects, outer space elements, and landscapes to practice both realism and creativity.
MODULE 7
Final Projects & Beyond
This module guides planning drawings, sketching compositions, selecting color palettes, blocking in large areas, layering gradually, refining fine details, adding highlights, deciding on simple or detailed backgrounds, and wrapping up with next steps.
